Rural Generalist Emergency Medicine Advisor

Dr Angela Travis is a Rural Generalist specialising in Emergency Medicine and Anaesthetics and currently works in the Adelaide Hills, at Mt Barker Hospital. Angela holds fellowships with both the RACGP and ACRRM. During training, Angela completed the Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice in Anaesthetics and has been working as a Rural Generalist Anaesthetist for 13 years. More recently she completed The Advanced Diploma in Emergency Medicine through ACEM, and she has been working as an Emergency Consultant at Mt Barker Hospital.

Angela also works as a RERN doctor (Rural Emergency Responders Network), often going to scenes of accidents to assist Ambulance Officers / Paramedics with medical support. Angela is also currently the Acting Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the South Australian Ambulance Service, providing support and advice for Ambulance Personnel in the field. In addition to this, Angela works at the South Australian Virtual Care Service (SAVCS) as an Emergency Consultant, seeing patients via videoconferencing with either SAAS, Rural Generalists or Nurses who are on-site with the patients.

Angela also enjoys teaching as a Facilitator at LearnEM, and gets to meet a lot of Rural Generalists up-skilling on the Rural Emergency Skills Program courses that are run at LearnEM in Adelaide.

Angela is a strong advocate of Rural Generalism and is keen to help promote opportunities for Trainees in Emergency Medicine.
