Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care by local general practitioners to specialist surgical, obstetric, paediatric and anaesthetic services delivered by medical consultants.

General medical and surgical care includes: outpatient services, palliative care, operating theatre, three stage recovery, day surgery unit, high dependency, medical unit, palliative, psychiatric, surgical unit, rehabilitation including orthopaedics, gynaecology, vascular, ear/nose and throat, plastics, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, cardiologist, nephrologist, cardiac rehabilitation program.

Maternity, obstetrics and paediatrics – Maternity and birthing suites are available  and include home visits provided by a midwife. A shared care arrangement with GPs, resident obstetrician and community midwives assist women with care and treatment before, during and after childbirth. Services include Level 2 obstetrics and neonatal nursery, resident paediatrician and two resident obstetrics and gynaecological specialists, a midwifery booking clinic and a domiciliary midwife program.

Other services include : Mental health services with a 24hr emergency assistance service and stroke services providing specialised treatment for suitable stroke patients with support by metropolitan stroke units.

Hawkins Medical Clinic is situated in Mount Gambier and has a large team of 21 highly experienced doctors who provide excellent teaching, supervision and training opportunities. With a wide range of services from primary care, sports medicine, dermatology, aboriginal health, counselling, paediatrics, obstetrics, minor surgery, mental health, orthopaedics, palliative care and geriatrics they also provide obstetric and emergency medicine services in the Mount Gambier Hospital.

Kincraig Medical Clinic provides medical services in Naracoorte and the surrounding districts. The Clinic consists of a group of doctors committed to rural family health by providing teaching, supervision and training opportunities for upcoming future specialist GP’s.

Naracoorte Health Service has 39 public beds, six day surgery beds, two operating theatres, same day and overnight stay, specialist consulting rooms, youth health, plus a residential aged care unit in Moreton Bay House that accommodates 11 State-funded aged care beds and 30 Commonwealth aged care beds.

The hospital provides general medical and surgical care including day surgery, for adults and children, acute care, psychiatry and palliative care.

Services include, general medicine, palliative care, radiology, gynaecology, aged care, proctology, vascular surgery, coronary care, general surgery, paediatrics, ear, nose and throat (ENT), orthodontic/oral surgery, respite care, orthopaedic, urology, obstetrics, cardiology, neonatology, plastic surgery, oncology, neurosurgery (consult and minor procedures only), pheumatology, ophthalmology, dermatology, physician, cardiac diagnostics. Chemotherapy services with four chemotherapy chairs with trained and accredited registered nurses to provide chemotherapy treatment and other cancer services, including infusions.

Obstetrics services include facilities for birthing, epidural pain relief and caesarean operations and a visiting gynaecologist and obstetrician. GPs assist women with care and treatment before, during and after childbirth, with midwives assisting in the provision of care.
